We run a number of dedicated seminars on sex, sexuality, psychosexual therapy and couples therapy, including relationship enhancement. We support and teach on the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, a two year training accredited by COSRT and Middlesex University.

Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy
The intention of the Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy is threefold: 1) to support clinicians in working with couples presenting with more complex issues such as symbiotic or enmeshed pathologies; 2) to integrate relationship enhancement models such as PAIRS or IMAGO into couples therapy; 3) to deepen developmental and transpersonal approaches to working with intimate systems.      

Seminars are scheduled for one day intensives per month over a year plus 3 weekends workshops.

Fees

£2650.00 for the year. Payments can be made monthly by standing order over 10 months. Applicants who are able to pay for the year ahead in one lump sum, are offered a 5% reduction in fees. Early bird application (contracts signed by the end of August 2014) receive a 5% reduction.

    • Indicative course content

      Whilst the overall framework will be Integrative the course will mainly focus on three particular approaches to couples work.

      - Developmental

      - Transpersonal (to include some imago work plus Hollis)

      - Relationship enhancement (PAIRS, IMAGO and others)

       

      The course will enable you to work with the more complex couple presentations which may, at times, require practitioners in medium to long term work with couples. Attention will be given to the work of Lachkar, Schnarch, Zinker, Bader and Pearson, Hollis and others. The full course content will be available nearer the time.


      Group supervision and professional development groups will be interspersed with didactic teaching and skills training.

       

      Curriculum

      - A developmental framework for couples work

      - Stages of Couples Relationship: symbiosis to differentiation, practicing, rapprochement to mutual interdependence

      - Diagnosis of the couple's stages

      - Principles for Intervention

      - The re-decision school within TA (M. and B. Gouldings)

      - A critical review of the co-dependency model

      - Narcissistic-Borderline couples

      - A comparison of Developmental and Transpersonal models of relationships

      - Relationship enhancement models vs. couples therapy

       

      Entry requirements

      Candidates will either have successfully completed the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy or an equivalent course of no less than 1 year duration. Candidates may be considered who wish to work solely with couples issues rather than psychosexual presentations.


      Assessment

      For those students who are working towards the Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy a case study of 3500 words is required. This will be reflected in the wording of the Diploma certification.

      Students who are actively working towards UKCP registration may select to undertake a research based extended case study of 8000 words. This option includes 8 academic tutorials of one hour each and is costed separately (£1100.00). The wording of the Diploma certification will reflect this

      Day 1: Saturday 13 December 2014
      Day 2 + 3: Weekend 1, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January 2015
